[Rantin’ in Vietnamese]
I wanted to take a moment to talk about the importance of expressing oneself in our beautiful language, Vietnamese. As a Vietnamese speaker living in a predominantly English-speaking country, I often find myself feeling disconnected from my mother tongue. I see many of my fellow Vietnamese immigrants struggling to maintain their proficiency in our language, and it breaks my heart.
Our language is deeply tied to our culture and identity. It is through our language that we are able to express our thoughts, emotions, and beliefs. When we lose our ability to communicate effectively in Vietnamese, we risk losing a part of ourselves.
I understand that living in a foreign country can make it difficult to maintain fluency in Vietnamese. We are constantly bombarded with English in our daily lives, whether it be at work, school, or even in our communities. However, it is important that we make a conscious effort to preserve our language and pass it on to future generations.
One way to do this is by using Vietnamese in everyday conversations, even if it feels more comfortable to speak in English. We can also read books, watch movies, and listen to music in Vietnamese to help improve our language skills. By immersing ourselves in our language and culture, we can strengthen our connection to our roots.
I urge my fellow Vietnamese immigrants to embrace our language and use it proudly. Let’s not allow our language to fade away into obscurity. Let’s continue to speak Vietnamese loud and proud, for it is a part of who we are.我们要骄傲表达自己的文化。Chúng ta nên tự hào với di sản văn hóa của mình. Let’s keep the spirit of our language alive for generations to come.
